Istat on Thursday revised down its
April inflation estimate from 0.9% to 0.8%.
In April 2024, the national consumer price index for the entire
community, before tobacco, is estimated to increase by 0.1% on a
monthly basis and by 0.8% on an annual basis (from +1.2% in the
previous month), Istat said, emphasising that the preliminary
estimate was +0.9%.
Inflation fell again in the month, returning to the same level
as in January and February (+0.8%).
The slight deceleration was mostly affected by the trend of
prices of unregulated energy goods (-13.9% from -10.3% in March)
and services related to transport (+2.7% from +4.5%).
The inflation 'trolley' of most frequently bought goods fell
from +2.6% to +2.3%.
